Abyss Mages are an elite enemy group part of the Abyss Order. They are usually found with hilichurls and/or their fellow mages. Abyss Mages can commonly be seen performing rituals or patrolling a set area. When performing a ritual, the mage will not have a shield up, but will quickly generate one if not killed in the first hit. Patrolling mages always have their shield active. Their shields are most effectively destroyed using the appropriate Elemental Reactions (see Shield/Shield Gauge Data). When their shields are destroyed, they will become stunned for a long time and can take direct damage. If the mage is not defeated while stunned, they will attempt to regenerate their shield.
